Thanks for that Chris It was a bit complicated to do as there was a 4 stop difference between the peaks and the shadows. With a spot meter probably there was a 5-6 stop range between the brightest highlights and the darkest shadows. I shot with a 3 stop grad ND and bracketed. I then took the shot with the best foreground and added the peaks from a darker exposure. I bit of fooling around in Photoshop to restore the dynamic range that was there in the scene, but a nice result, worth the cold fingers, toes, etc. Colin

I really love this photo! The waterfall in the dark shadow was a perfect effect. Highlighted with the Himalayan range in the back is very well done.

Some background about myself. Its really not that interesting, but with the shelves of bookshops groaning with 'celebrity' and sports autobiographies I'm not the only one to inflict details of an ordinary life on the public. At least this runs to just a few paragraphs. I was raised in a small village in the middle of Essex, England. I combined an unremarkable school career with the usual childhood things. I built Airfix Spitfires and Stukas which I shot up with my airgun. I fell out of trees and off of bikes which hurt a lot. I got crappy reports from school which I ignored. Life for a kid was much simpler then. Eventually school came to an end and, having scraped a few A levels my options were either the appalling prospect of work...
